The LPD has a citizen's police academy you can attend and learn how and why they do what they do. Ask questions, hands on activities, just about everything you would want to learn.


There are still openings for this year's class. Class runs from Feb 9, 2025 - April 27, 2025. It's one night a week. If you want to attend this years class, you need to get your application in now. For more information and the application for the class, please use the link below.

Not an Alumnus?
In order to become a member of the alumni association, you must attend and graduate from a session of the Citizen's Police Academy.  Once you have completed the academy, you will be invited to join the alumni association. 
The Citizens Police Academy (CPA) is designed to educate citizens of Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County about their police department and how officers enforce local and state laws. The goal of the CPA is to create and develop a growing nucleus of responsible, well-informed citizens who have the potential to influence public opinion concerning police practices and the delivery of services.
